Training in Vancouver

I’m in Vancouver, Canada this week training for our World Cup PGS Sunday at Cypress Mtn., 2010 Olympic Snowboard Venue. I’m looking forward to racing on the hill this weekend and hopefully befriending it for next year. I had a fun day of riding today at Grouse Mtn., above Vancouver. There was about five inches of pow on top of a grippy hard layer underneath; should make for good training conditions in the days ahead.
I enjoyed being home in Aspen the past week and a half after a month on the road competing in Europe and Asia. I was cooked from a long January away. I spent the past week at home skate-skiing, uphilling, and snowskating. I was stoked to hang with my friends and family again and sleep in my own bed. I’m recharged and ready to rule it again this weekend. My back is way better after suffering a good wipeout in Korea. I did an avalanche certification last weekend and went out for a tour above Ashcroft. It was fun to get in the backcountry again and take a closer look at what’s going on with the snowpack. Hopefully it will dump in the weeks ahead and make for an epic spring of mountaineering. I’m looking forward to climbing and riding in the high country this spring when things are safer. Enjoy a few pics from our Sunday Tour near Ashcroft.
I’ll let you know how it goes this weekend. I travel to Quebec from here for a World Cup on Feb. 22nd and then straight to Sunday River for our US World cup PGS Feb. 26th. CKF will be partnering with US Snowboarding and NKF to host a donor awareness event at Sunday River all weekend during the World Cup. Stop by and say hi if you’re there. For more info visit www.chrisklugfoundation.org Don’t forget to register for our 9th Annual Aspen Klug Spring Snowboard Camp 2009 April 3-5 on Buttermilk Mtn., Aspen, CO. It’s a great way to get ready for USASA Nationals at Copper Mtn., or improve your riding in whatever area you want. It should be a great camp this year with an all-star coaching crew. Let me know if you’ve got any questions. Thanks for your support! Talk to you soon,
CK
