Shukolovo, Russia FIS Slalom World Cup

Eighteenth today for me at Shukolovo, Russia FIS Slalom World Cup. I finished as the top American, but just missed advancing to finals by one hundreth. Damn! I rode solid, but looped out in second run a little, costing me advancing to finals. It was such a sprint today, you couldn’t afford any faults. I’m stoked my slalom riding is heading in the right direction. It was a beautiful day which made for perfect racing conditions. I’m looking forward to another start on Friday. We’re traveling to St. Petersburg tomorrow and racing second Russian World Cup on Friday. I’m traveling to Lake Placid from there for a week of training before next PGS World Cup. My goal is to qualify for the finals in Friday’s slalom and find the podium in Lake Placid in PGS. My slalom riding is traditionally not as strong as my PGS, but I got a new board I love and am feeling more confident.Marc Iselin won tonight’s Parallel Slalom, veteran Frenchman Mathieu Bozzetto second and Roland Fischnaller from Italy thrid on the podium. Olympic Gold Medalist Daniela Meuli claimed the women’s slalom victory with Swiss teammates Fraenzi Kohli second and Ursula Bruhin third. It was an impressive comback podium for Fraenzi after hand surgey last month.I’ll keep ya posted from St. Petersburg. Enjoy the pictures below, courtesy of Adam Casanova. Thanks for checking in!CK
