Ride to Crested Butte

I rode my mountain bike to Crested Butte last Saturday. What a sick ride. I climbed up Express Creek from Ashcroft to the top of Taylor Pass with my friends Tom and Jon. My pack was so heavy I thought I was going to explode. It’s a lot different riding your mountain bike with a heavy pack. I got a little carried away packing snacks and clothes. We went over Star Pass at nearly twelve and a half thousand feet, and down Brush Creek to Crested Butte. I redlined a few times going up Star. It’s hard to recover at twelve thousand plus pushing your mountain bike hard on a steep climb. We picked the perfect weekend for weather. The wild flowers were insane. The flowers were chest high in places on the trail. it took us about five hours to reach Crested Butte from Aspen. We feasted in Crested Butte Saturday and relaxed. Sunday morning we rode up the 401 to the top of Schofield Pass and down to Crystal and Marble, finishing in Redstone with a huge lunch at the Castle. It was an epic weekend of riding. My butt is a little sore, but otherwise a perfect weekend!
I’ll be in Denver on Sunday Aug. 9th with my friends at the Vans Warped Tour representing CKF and promoting donation. Stop by the CKF booth to say hi and get some free cool schwag. I hope to see you there! Enjoy the photos below. Hope your summer’s going well. Have fun!
