Ride for the Cure 2004 Aspen, CO

It was a fun packed weekend for me. I participated in the first ever Ride for the Cure in support of Cancer research and treatment in my hometown of Aspen, CO on Saturday. It was a 100 mile road ride around Aspen, climbing up Castle Creek Rd., Maroon Creek Rd., Owl Creek Rd., and finally Capital Creek Rd. I felt like a mountain goat. I was surprised that I didn’t seize with cramps midway and bow out with dehydration paralysis. I suffered a little at the end, but survived and made it to the finish line. We started off at Paepke Park in downtown Aspen at 7 am on Saturday Morning. It was just above 35 degrees, but beautiful. It warmed to over seventy degrees by the end of the ride. It took me five and a half hours to complete the course. I was spent!Sunday I traveled to Columbus, Ohio to support the Saturn Day at the Zoo event! I teamed up with Jack Hanna to help spread the message of donor awareness. After speaking and signing autographs for a few hours, Jack introduced me to some of his friends. It was awesome. Enjoy the shots below! I’m in Denver, CO the next two days getting ready to join the 5 Points of Life Cyclist as they ride through Denver en route to Florida on their cross-country journey to raise donor awareness. I’ve joined them for a leg the last two years and love being a part of the ride if only for a day. My friend Alex is doing the whole ride this year, so it will be good to see how he’s holding up and check in with him. We’ll be riding to the CO state capitol tomorrow and meeting Gov Owens as we ride through Denver! Thanks for stoppin’ by. Hope you’re enjoying your September. I’m trainng hard the next month in preparation for our Oct. 5th training camp in Austria and Oct. 17th World Cup Opener in Solden, Austria. It’s going to be a great season ahead! Get Ready!CK
