Oklahoma City Visit

I was in Oklahoma City last week visiting the Integris Baptist Medical Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute, sharing my Olympic and transplant experiences and promoting donor awareness. It was a great trip. I toured the transplant program with Dr. Nour, the head of transplantation at Baptist Medial. He’s a super cool guy. I loved his enthusiasm and dedication to transplantion. They’ve got an awesome program there. Thursday night I spoke at the Nazih Zuhdi Foundation dinner held at the Western Heritage Museum and Cowboy Hall of Fame. It was the coolest place. I checked out the Lone Ranger’s get-up, Gene Autrey’s boot collection and a killer ‘End of the Trail’ Stuatue.
Following my speech Thursday night I went downtown to see the Federal Building Memorial dedicated to the victims of the Oklahoma City Bombing. Unbelievable! I’ve included a shot of graffiti from adjacent building done by NYC rescue team that came to OKC to help. I found it interesting considering the message and the events that followed.
Friday Morning I visited Saturn of Oklahoma City. They were the number one Saturn Retailer across the Country in blood drive numbers. They’re real champions of National Donor Day. I was proud to pay them a visit, congratulate them and present them with a signed Burton Snowboard. Below is a shot of team Saturn OKC!
Below is a final shot of Kevin fixing Marco’s third flat of the ride. Nice having Mr. Wienerstube, the Leadville 100 champ, along for repairs. I got home last night and hooked the hose up to the hot water heater and steam washed the bikes and put ’em away for the winter. It’s over! Winter is here today in Aspen, dumping today! I’m off to training camp with US Team this weekend at Copper. We’re launching new eCommerce website www.klugriding.com, Burton’s exlusive alpine gear site, in days ahead. Check back soon. Thanks for stopping by! Keep the snow comming!
