New Zealand Training Camp

I’m in New Zealand training for the snowboard competition season ahead. I’m having a lot of fun and training hard. Our team started out training at the Remarkables and Coronet Peak, but quickly moved to Cardrona due to a lack of snow. It rained last week and destroyed their bases. It hasn’t been a huge winter down here, but we lucked out at Cardrona with recent snow and cold conditions. We’ve been getting on-snow each morning at 7:00 a.m. at sunrise and training until 9:00 followed by some fun freeriding before the crowds appear. It’s winter-like and cold on top and warm and sunny in the valley, best of both words. It was a shock getting thrown back into winter after kiting and surfing the past month in Oregon in warm temps. I had to buy some New Zealand Woollies to keep my dogs warm. The place we’re staying rules. It has a huge hot pool and cold pool adjacent which I’ve been frequenting to recover each day. We’re training early tomorrow morning, then taking a day off and heading to Dunedin on the South East Coast to surf. It’s supposed to be cold and a little sharky. Hopefully there will be swell. I’ll let ya know. I will be training next week, before heading North to check out the surf there with my wife and celebrate out anniversary. Enjoy the pics from New Zealand. Thanks for stopping by,
