13th in Slalom at Bad Gastein World Cup

I placed 13th in the first of two make-up slaloms at Bad Gastein, Austria on Wednesday. It was my best slalom finish of the year. I finished 16th at the World Cup Opener in Landgraaf, Netherlands. It was a steep and challenging hill in Bad Gastein the past days. I feel like I made some solid progress with my slalom riding. Yesterday’s second World Cup slalom didn’t go as well as the first, I just missed the second run by one place, finishing seventeenth on the first run. I was hoping to make back-to-back finals two days in a row. I am traditionally a stronger PGS rider, but am finding my grove again in slalom and having fun. Plus it’s good for my PGS riding.
I return home to Aspen from Europe tomorrow to enjoy the holiday with my family. I’m looking forward to riding some pow at home the next week. The snowpack has been non-existent in Europe the past weeks; it will be nice to return to winter in Colorado. Can’t wait to make laps on Highlands Bowl. One of my favorite things to do is make a three or four lap day on Highlands Bowl with my friends. What a workout! It will be nice to spend a few weeks at home relaxing and rechargin for a big January ahead. I resume the circuit in Steamboat, Colorado at Noram races Jan. 5th and 6th. I plan to train in Aspen right up to World Championships Jan. 16th and 17th in Arosa, Switzerland. My goal is to stand on the podium in Arosa. I’ll be working hard the next weeks to make sure that happens. It’s going to be an exciting 2007. Happy Holiday and Merry Christmas. I wish you many fresh tracks and fun times in 2007.
