Happy 4th of July!

I hope you had a fun 4th of July and are enjoying summertime! It was a great one here in Aspen. I ran in the Boogies Buddy 5 Sunday morning to kick-off the holiday. I’m in good aerobic shape now from riding my bike so much this spring and summer, but I’m not a regular runner, so I was hurting. I didn’t break any records, I just cruised. My goal was not to walk Cemetery Lane. My legs were so sore the last two days. This is my training program for the Donor Dash 5K run July 18th and the Transplant Games 5K community fun run.
The traditional Aspen 4th of July Parade was longer and wackier than ever. It was a beautiful day. I lounged around he pool all afternoon following the parade recovering from running and riding hard all week. Sunday night I headed up Aspen Mtn. for a party with Missy and friends. It snowed on top of the mountain Sunday eve while it rained in town. Just before the fireworks show the rain stopped. The clouds provided a perfect backdrop over the Aspen Mtn. gondola for a spectacular show.
After a few good crashes in last weeks rain soaked reverse Government Trail mountain bike race, I’m determined to keep it upright tonight in the Blast the Mass Aspen Cycling Club Wednesday series tonight. I’m planning to ride the Triple Bypass from Evergreen, CO to Avon, CO this Saturday. The Triple Bypass is a 120 mile road ride over three passes, should be great training for Leadville August 14th.
I’m lovin’ being home racing my bikes for fun this summer and focusing on my Klug Properties real estate business. I’m headed to Wisconsin in a few weeks to support the US Transplant Games in Madison, WI. I’ve been invited to throw out the opening pitch at the Milwaukee Brewer’s game July 28th to celebrate my tenth anniversary since my liver transplant. I hope to see you there! Enjoy summer!
