Belize and Costa Rica Vacation

I returned home to Aspen after a few weeks of kiting and surfing in Central America. I went down to Belize for my brother Jim’s bachelor party. He’s a big time fly fisherman and Belize is his favorite place. We did a lot of fishing and I busted out my kite a few times when it was howling. I suffered one ‘kitemare’ where my kite mysteriously self launched on the beach and almost killed a few specatators, finally landing on a lawnchair next to the pool and ripping in two. The fly fishing was awesome down there. Jason and I caught some nice bone fish. From Belize I traveled to Costa Rica to meet up with my buddies Gilles and Tomas for a week of surf. We lucked out with some good swell and surfed every day. I showed up in Costa Rica and discovered my surfboard was broken in two from the travel? I managed to get a new one in Jaco, so I could surf all week. Tough trip on my gear!
I showd up in SLC last Thursday to emcee a luncheon with Quest for the Gift of Life Foundation. I was helping to dedicate a monument at the library square honoring donors and donor families. I was proud to be a part of the event and to be joined by my donor family. Dep. Surgeon General Ken Moritsugu, Senator Jake Garn and Mayor Rocky Anderson as well as thousands of donor families and recipients were all there in support. Check out the monument next time you’re in SLC at the downtown library square. It is a great tribute to donors and a reminder of the importance of the life-saving message of donor awarenes.
I’m enjoying being home in Aspen the next few weeks, playing, excercising and getting a little work done. Enjoy your spring. Hope you like the pics. below.CK
