AST Launch, Warped Tour Red Rocks

My teammates and I established a new independent, professional snowboard team called America’s Snowboard Team (AST). Our goal is to showcase the sport of alpine snowboarding and provide a premier training environment to qualify for Team USA and ultimately contend for medals next February at the Vancouver Winter Olympics. I’m really proud of what we have created together. The team is comprised of US National Champions with secured World Cup start positions for the Olympic qualification events ahead. The team includes Zac Kay, Josh Wylie, Erica Mueller and myself. Legendary snowboard trainer Rob Roy returns to coaching as AST Head Coach with former World Cup competitor and US Open Champion Ian Price acting as Assistant Head Coach and Equipment Technician. I’m excited to train together and work hard to achieve our Olympic Dreams. We start training together in a few weeks at Mt. Hood. Our new website is live at www.americassnowboardteam.com. Check it out and let me know what ya think. AST is supported by Hooters, BCF, and Aspen/Snowmass.
Last weekend I was in Denver hosting a CKF event at the Vans Warped Tour at Mile High. My friends Joel and Kenton joined me to educate kids about the importance of organ donation and pass out Donor Dudes swag. We had so much traffic at our Donor Dudes booth; we shared the message with a few thousand people. The performances were awesome. I saw “Bouncing Souls,†“NOFX,†and “Bad Religion.†The night before the Warped Tour event I went to the Rockies vs. Cubs game with my family and friends. My niece and nephew visiting from Montana joined us for the game. My niece pounded an entire bag of cotton candy, reminded me of myself at her age.
I’m in Australia this week for the World Transplant Games on the Gold Coast. I arrived a few days early to explore the kiting and surfing. I got off the plane today and straight in the water. Nice not to be in a thick Oregon Coast wetsuit. I enjoyed a fun session at Sunshine Beach yesterday with some fun left handers. I bruised my rib in a mountain bike crash last weekend, which didn’t feel too good lying on my board, but it was worth it. Thanks for checking in. Talk to you soon,
