Aspen Summit 4 Life 2008

The Third Annual Aspen Summit for Life 2009 was a huge success last Saturday night. We had almost three hundred uphillers and another one hundred fifty partiers and volunteers atop Aspen mountain to congratulate racers as they crossed the finish line and enjoy the Sundeck celebration. “Funky Miracle†played an awesome concert at the Sundeck Restaurant. Everyone safely crossed the finish line. Eight transplant recipients made it to the top and a couple donor families. I was so proud of the event and grateful to everyone that participated and raised pledges to help support CKF. Thank you to everyone that joined us. I hope you had a fun time. It was a spectacular night to hike Aspen Mtn. I looked up a few times while trudging up Spar Gulch to take in the starry night and mountain outline. I didn’t even need a headlamp as I hiked in the dark. We had two start times this year, 5:15 pm recreational and 6:00 pm competitive. The energy was cool as hikers passed each other and high fived on the way to the top. The event raised almost fifty thousand dollars for CKF, enabling the foundation to host more donor awareness events and activities in 2009 and help spread the message on life-saving donation. Thank you to everyone that helped make this possible.I arrived in Torino, Italy yesterday for a World Cup this weekend in Limone Piemonte, Italy. The roads were pretty much dry yesterday driving to Cuneo from Torino. Today it dumped almost a meter in Cuneo. I tried to make it to the mountain to ride pow, but there was so much snow I couldn’t get there. Supposedly more snow on the way this weekend. Could be soft racing conditions. We race PGS on Sunday. I’ll keep you posted from Limone. Thanks for your support. Ciao from Italy,CK
