2nd Place Park City NorAm Giant Slalom

Flat light, howling wind and soft snow made for challenging racing conditions yesterday in Park City. It was a two run combined time giant slalom from the top of CB’s run on Park City Mountain. The course ran about one and half minutes, twice as long as the 2002 Olympic PGS course. I rode aggressive and fast, but struggled on both runs with problems. I fought back hard from a huge deficit on the first run to make up three seconds on the second run and finish on the podium. It wasn’t an easy race, but I refused to give up and was proud to hang in there despite big mistakes. It reminds me again to “Never give up,” no mater what. Canadian Phillip Berube won and my teammate Zac Kay was third. Michelle Gargone won the women’s race. With six PGS races ahead – it’s going to be a fun month of racing. Next World Cup Feb. 17th in Korea. I’m driving home to Aspen today to ride powder for a few days before hitting the road again. Enjoy the photos from Park City.
