18th World Cup Finals Quebec

I’m flying to Calgary today to get ready for the final competitions of the season. I’m a little worn out from all the travel this winter, but looking forward to a fun last weekend of racing in Banff. We’ll be competing at Sunshine Village this weekend in the combined US and Canadian Nationals. Early in my career I participated in one of my first big snowboarding events at Sunshine Village, the 1985 North American Champs. I went through the wrong finish in the giant slalom and placed third in the halfpipe with back-to-back handplants. Old school rules! My good friend Tad Dobson schooled me in the jr. ranks.
I placed Eighteenth at World Cup Finals last weekend at Stoneham, Quebec, just missing the finals with an o.k. first run and a good second. After two days of mash potatoe snow conditions from the warm temps the weather turned cold and froze solid. I didn’t really trust the snow like I should have. It ended up being sick, unfortunately I figured that out halfway down the course on my first run. Eighteenth is solid, but disappointing to miss the finals by so little, especially when I feel fast. You’ve gotta give it and take some chances if you want to be in there. I’m looking forward to going for it this weekend. I’d love to end the season with a couple podiums.
After competing in Quebec I rallied to Florida to screen our documentary “Ride of your Life” at the Delray Beach Film Festival. We didn’t have a huge turnout, but the response was super positive. We won an award for the best actions sports film. We will be premiering our documentary in Denver at the Paramount Theatre downtown on April 17th with a concert by the band “Opie Gone Bad.†CKF and the Wheeler Opera House will host a free, public screening and concert with “Coyote Gospel†April 21st, celebrating Donate Life Month. I hope you will join us!
I enjoyed a fun day of freeriding at Aspen Highlands yesterday and a trip to the top of the bowl with my buddies. It was ridiculously warm. Felt good to be back in my softies. I’m excited to return home next week to get ready for my 7th Annual Aspen Snowboarding Camp and enjoy the spring freeriding. It’s one of my favorite times of the year. I’ll keep you posted on the racing action from Banff. Thanks for stopping by,
