18th Limone Piemonte FIS World Cup PGS

I finished eighteenth in last Sunday’s FIS World Cup Parallel Giant Slalom, just missing the finals. I had an unimpressive first run with a more aggressive second, but it wasn’t enough to advance to the head-to-head top sixteen final. As well as I feel like I’m riding now I’m not very pleased with my performance. It was a challenging race hill, super firm. My teammate Tyler Jewell finished seventeenth and Justin Rieter Nineteenth. Michelle Gargone was twelfth. Manuel Veith from Austria got his first World Cup victory, Daniel Biveson from Sweden took second, claiming the overall yellow leaders jersey and Canadian Matthew Morrison took the final spot on the podium. Austrian Heidi Neururer was the women’s winner.
After racing last Sunday I took Monday off and traveled to Monaco with my teammate Zac Kay and his friend Damian to check out the city. It’s only about an hour’s drive from Limone Piemonte. It was a lot of fun touring around the city on foot all day.
I stayed in Limone Piemonte, Italy this week with my US Teammates to train slalom in preparation for this Sunday’s World Cup slalom in Nendaz, Switerland. It dumped about a meter of fresh pow in the Nendaz area. While I’m jones’ing to ride pow, pow, it isn’t ideal for racing, so I remained in Limone and rode rock hard conditions on my slalom board the past days to get ready. The race hill here is steep and demanding. I made a lot of slalom turns and am feeling good for this weekend. It’s supposed to be sunny in the days ahead in Nendaz. Should be epic racing conditions. I will head there tomorrow and then train for a couple days before Sunday’s World Cup. There is also a Europa Cup PSL on Tuesday that I plan to race as well. I’ll keep you posted. Enjoy the photos from Limone courtesy of Oliver Kraus from FIS Media. It’s dumping back home in Aspen. I’ve been receiving non-stop messages informing me of the epic conditions at home now. I’m looking forward to returning home next week to freeride and hike for a few weeks over the holiday. Talk to you soon,
